Stefan Baumann is a professional artist and instructor who has painted and taught oil painting classes in the Bay area for the past 35 years. He frequently says, “Anyone can learn to oil paint, all you need is desire.” Stefan is a Romantic Realist in the Hudson River style. His passionate love of nature and ability to capture the effect of light in his paintings began in Lake Tahoe and blossomed when he studied art at Stanford University. As a prominent young artist appearing in Art of the West and selling his art to collectors such as the Reagans and Vanderbilts, he opened his own studio and began instructing artists.
Six years ago Stefan’s desire to live in a place of natural beauty and to paint what he loves with integrity brought him to the Shasta Forest where he paints stunning views of Northern California and Oregon in his home/studio in Mt. Shasta. He shares his talent, knowledge, and enthusiasm for art with others by featuring his artwork at the Gallery in Mt. Shasta and Central Art Supply Studio and offering weekly oil painting classes in Medford, Mt. Shasta, and Redding. He also posts a monthly blog with plein air paintings, offers 3-day outdoor painting workshops in Mt. Shasta, and his series called “The Grand View” airs periodically on local Create TV and PBS stations.
