(Medford, OR) – February 10, 2012 – Professional or amateur, young or old – there’s a class for everyone who wants to explore art through the Rogue Gallery & Art Center this Winter. Diverse art classes and workshops feature traditional and new art techniques taught by professional artist/educators at affordable prices. From ongoing youth classes like Afterschool Art Studio to adult workshop Advanced Watercolor: Water and Sky with award-winning and nationally acclaimed artist Lane Hall, artists of all ages and abilities wishing to enhance their skills or embark in a new direction artistically have a variety of art classes and workshops to choose from, year-round.

The Rogue Gallery & Art Center’s (RGAC) Artist Professional Development Series this March features four Saturday workshops with valuable information for all artists wishing to jump-start or refresh their creative careers. Marketing Your Art for Success: Right Message, Right Audience, Right Tools with Nikolas Allen, Saturday, March 3rd from 11 AM – 2:30 PM will teach artists marketing skills and tools to increase art sales and prepare them for the next level of success. Artistic consultant, web designer, and blogger Hannah West will teach artists how to promote themselves professionally during Social Networking to Promote Your Art on Saturday, March 10th from 12-2 PM. West will also offer back-to back digital image instruction with Adobe Photoshop during Beginning and Intermediate/ Advanced Working with Images for Artists on Saturday, March 17th.

Other Winter adult art educational offerings from RGAC with quality instruction in our 1,100 square foot studio include Intermediate/ Advanced Watercolor: Water and Sky Workshop with Lane Hall, Visual Storytelling through Cartoon & Comics with Ted Helard, Pinhole Photography Weekend Workshop with Mary Wilkins Kelly, and Consumable Art: Painting with Edible (and Drinkable) Mixed Media with Anna Elkins. In addition, every first and third Friday from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM, RGAC offers Life Drawing Open Studios for two hours of uninstructed figure drawing from a live model.

RGAC recently expanded their art class offerings for youth to include Afterschool Art Studio 1 for 1st through 6th graders on Wednesdays from 2-5 PM (corresponding with Medford’s early-release Wednesdays) and Afterschool Art Studio 2 for 4th – 9th graders on Tuesdays from 4:30-6 PM. Pre-register your child by the month for creative art lessons to learn basic skills in painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, and more. The RGAC studio is equipped with high quality art materials to teach foundational art skills for creative expression to youth for a lifetime of arts appreciation.

Additional upcoming art classes for youth include:

Earth Paints & Nature-Inspired Art with Leah Mebane on Saturday March 17th from 10 AM – noon. Students ages 8-13 will “go green” in the art studio for St. Patty’s Day and the Earth by learning how to make Earth Paints from natural pigments and colored clay and create eco-friendly art projects including painted garden stones, printed stationary, and glue batik designs.

Altered Photographic Images with Mary Wilkins-Kelly Saturdays April 14 & 21 from noon – 4 PM. Teens ages 13- 17 will explore the world of photography as an expressive art form, take creative pictures with their digital camera, and play with a variety of materials to alter and embellish the photographs. Teens will experiment with hand-coloring, photo collage, heat transfer of photos onto fabric and other non-paper materials.

Drop In & Draw is an Open Studio offered for youth in grades 1- 6, held one Monday a month. Children may drop-in to explore fun art lessons and make-it take-it craft projects with a new theme each month! Stop by the Studio from one to four hours,9 AM to 1 PM for just $4/hour! Dates for Winter 2012 are February 20th, March 5th, April 9th, and May 7th.
