Dan Welden: A Day of SolarPlate Printmaking

Saturday October 9th    10 am to 2pm

10 am –Noon   Process Demonstration

12:30—2pm   Artist Talk  with  Q & A

Solarplates can be used to both make photographic images or worked upon in a more direct method by drawing and painting.This is an exciting  interactive learning opportunity open to everyone; printmakers, photographers, painters, teachers and everyone interested in a unique kind of creativity.

10 am -Noon  PROCESS DEMONSTRATION will be a technical session, during which the artist will create an image and process both an etching and a relief plate with sunlight and water, after which it will be printed.

12:30-2pm    ARTIST TALK will be a Question and Answer interactive ‘show and tell’ where the artist will have examples of his art as well as a number of other artists using the same technique.

A  Day of Solarplate Printmaking… Demonstration and Talk by Dan Welden, master printmaker and the originator of the process. He is the Co-Author of “Printmaking in the Sun“, the comprehensive text of solarplate methods. As a teacher, Dan continues to inspire students around the world in workshops where he demonstrates how to make art with his process.

This program is in conjunction with Dan’s exhibition at the Davis & Cline Gallery opening 6-8pm Oct 9th
