The October Exhibit in Rogue’s Community Gallery displays Pacific Northwest award winning watercolor artist Lane Hall, who displays bold brush strokes and strong composition in his representational depiction of nature.

Accomplished watercolorist Lane Hall expertly paints with watercolor to create images of local surroundings including old buildings, open fields, and country roads. Using what is called a “dry brush” technique of watercolor painting, he applies the paint with little water. He then scrapes and scratches the painted surface. The result is beautiful, lively brushstrokes that are rich in color and texture. Lane states of his artwork, “I love the stark value contrasts and varying textures found in nature and endeavor to translate my unique interpretation for the viewer onto a two dimensional surface.”

Lane graduated from Southern Oregon University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He resides in Southern Oregon.
