News from Artist Silvia Trujillo

(Editor’s Note: This entry is posted from an email we received from Silvia on 7.10.11)

Yes, I’m back in Ashland and settling in. I can hardly keep up with my recent moves, let alone expect anyone else to!

To update you on current and future happenings:

My new abode is equipped with a small room off the kitchen that I will be using to teach private lessons. It has a separate entrance and can be accessed from the side gate. I’m looking forward to teaching here again!

Next week I’m competing in a juried plein air event; The 1st Annual Umpqua Plein Air Competition.  Wish me luck, it will be my first juried plein air competition and paint out. I really don’t like these competitions because the jury process is so subjective. My wish is that the juror offers an open mind and fair evaluation when judging individual style, approach, and interpretation. I would love to see awards based on diversity of interpretation rather than sameness. Anyway, thought I’d give it a whirl and see what there is to offer. At the least it will be a challenging painting experience and there is always something to be gained from that!

There is still room for another student at the EdenVale Plein Air Workshop on 7/22 & 7/23. The weather has been gorgeous and is expected to remain that way for awhile. I’m planning on getting some good painting in in the next several weeks.

These paintings are some of my latest:[slidepress gallery=’silvia-trujillo-new-work’]
