City of El Paso: Pre-Qualified Artist Pool 2013-2014

GENERAL INFORMATION The City of El Paso Public Art Program seeks to establish a new pre-qualified pool of artists and artist teams for consideration in upcoming public art projects. The pre-qualified list will go into effect as soon as it is established and approved by the Public Art Committee. Upon selection, the pre-qualified list of artists will remain in effect for two years. Funding for the projects is provided by two percent (2%) of the Capital Improvement Program. Artists selected for the Artist Pool will always be notified prior to being placed into consideration for specific projects.

ARTIST ELIGIBILITY

Any professional artist or artist team is eligible to apply. If artists are applying as a team, the team should be declared in the letter of interest, specifying a team leader to receive notifications. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Current City of El Paso employees and Public Art Committee members may not apply.

 

Seattle City Light Denny Substation Artwork Project

The Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, in partnership with Seattle City Light (SCL), is seeking an artist or artist team to work as a member of the Denny Substation design team to develop permanent artwork for Seattle City Light’s new substation. The artist will work closely with SCL and other project design team members for the substation to develop artwork to be integrated with the new facility. The call is open to established professional artists residing and eligible to work in the United States. Applications close 11 p.m., Nov. 2, 2012 (Pacific Daylight Time).

Town of Miami Lakes Veterans Memorial at Town Hall

The Town of Miami Lakes requests qualifications from professional artists to design an exterior sculpture that artistically enhances the existing architecture of the proposed Town Hall and pays homage as a Veterans Memorial. The selected artist may also wish to incorporate an interior artwork that adds character and artistically describes the functions of the Town Hall.

Houston Center for Photography: 2013 Fellowships

Two fellowship recipients will be awarded $3,000 each and a solo exhibition at HCP in the summer of 2012. One Houston-based artist (residing within a 100 mile radius of Houston including the Beaumont, Galveston, and College Station areas) will receive the Carol Crow Memorial Fellowship and another artist from anywhere in the world, outside the Houston area, will receive the HCP Fellowship. W.M. Hunt, Collector, Curator and Consultant (New York, NY) will jury the fellowship selection.

Au Naturel: The Nude in the 21st Century is an international juried competition hosted annually by the Art Center of Clatsop Community College in Astoria, Oregon, with a focus on the time-honored tradition of the nude human figure, an art form that continues to inspire and challenge many artists today as one of the most potentially rewarding subjects to explore. This exhibit represents a wide range of interpretations of the human figure from representational to abstract, and is open to all artists from around the world working in any drawing, painting, and printmaking media in which the handmade mark is employed as the primary means of image-making.

The ideal artwork is one which is an unexpected and delightful encounter for visitors to the site. Both 2-D and 3-D artworks will be considered in addition to combinations of the two.
