Flower Dreams, mixed media painting by Jay Gordon

Exhibit dates: January 24—February 28, 2020

Reception Date: Friday, February 21, 5:30-8 pm

Ashland artist Jay Gordon mixed media paintings of various styles of shoes are whimsical, playful, and stylish. She uses abstract brushworks with representational images of sandals, loafers, boots, stilettos, Oxfords, and Mary Jane shoes. From function to fashion, shoes communicate the activities and tastes of the people who wear them.  Jay Gordon demonstrates the depth of information these objects can convey, pulling these compositions closer to portraiture than still life. Jay Gordon was inspired to pursue painting from viewing art in numerous museums while living in Washington DC. She is also an accomplished bassist musician and a pediatrician.
