February 2020 Exhibits at Art du Jour
In February classical guitarist Rod Petrone will be our musician for Art du Jour Gallery’s Third Friday event on February 21. Please go to our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ArtduJourGallery) for further updates.
Featured Artist Mary Ann Macey
Viewing the sea, land and wildlife inspires Mary Ann Macey to paint more and more scenes of creation and its beauty! As an artist, she followed in her family’s footsteps. Her art career flourished in Southern California, where she taught many classes, won numerous awards, sold paintings and accepted commission work. Mary Ann studied art across the southland at Santa Monica College, Ventura College, and Palomar College with an opportunity of study under some prominent and gifted artists. “When I moved to Oregon my professional art career took a back seat to focus on raising my family.” Macey writes. “Now they are a wonderful encouragement for me to become more involved in my art as they focus on raising their own families. She is currently a member of Art du Jour Gallery, Rogue Valley Art Center, SOSA, and Artists Loft in Coos Bay.
Guest Artists Vivian McAleavey and Tom Glassman
For February and March we will be exhibiting the work of two Medford based photographers in the Salon, Vivian McAleavey and Tom Glassman.
Born and raised in Wisconsin, Vivian McAleavey earned a bachelor’s degree with majors in math and geology. With both backgrounds she was drawn to the exploration of Nature’s underlying principles.”While I have always had a camera in hand, it wasn’t until after my children were grown and gone that I had the time and energy to seriously pursue photography as an art form.” Vivian writes. “My hope is that each viewer of this exhibit will be seduced by at least one of these pathways. That an image will speak to them of their personal journey and help them find their way through their next few steps.”
As a former creative director at several ad agencies, Tom Glassman is used to routinely looking for the unusual. “I attribute my ability ‘to see’ to my advertising background.” Tom writes. His work has shown in a number of galleries and exhibits in Boston, Massachusetts; Portland and Kennebunkport, Maine; Seattle and Kirkland, Washington; California; New Orleans; and of course, Oregon. His work is in the private collections of many professional photographers, photography instructors, designers, art directors, graphic artists, art instructors, gallery owners, plain old artist-artists (painters, sculptors, etc.), and many of the framers Tom has worked with. Additionally he teaches photography and fine art printing.
