Japanese Gourd-Style Basket Workshop with Donna Sakamoto Crispin

Using cane and reed create a lovely, open-weave basket shaped like a Japanese gourd. Learn plaiting and twining – foundational techniques for basket weaving. Participants will create their own unique basket with an opening large enough to place a vase or glass jar within it. This class is open for beginners to those experienced with basketry.

Learn twining and plaiting techniques to create a Market Basket for your next trip to the Farmer’s Market. Starting with a 10” wooden handle, participants will weave a basket with a base that is 10” by 12” and 6” high. Participants will have the opportunity to add in some natural materials grown in Oregon. This class is open for beginners to those experienced with basketry.
