Ladybug, by Jaime Byrn, Williams

Congratulations to Jaime Byrn of Williams, Oregon for winning the 2012 World of Wine Poster Competition!  Thank you to all the participants who submitted artwork for this event.

This year the World of Wine Festival released its first open call to Southern Oregon artists, seeking wine-themed visual art to be considered for its 2012 festival poster by jurors Joe Ginet (Pres., Applegate Valley Vintners Assn), Robert Roos (JOBA) and watercolorist Linda Boutacoff. Now the jury is in, and an exhibit of the winner and finalists will be open to the public free of charge on Sat., Aug. 27 from 3 – 5 pm in the auditorium at Bigham Knoll, in conjunction with a lively vendor fair. During this time you can also purchase & pick up tickets for the Grand Tasting event, which follows from 5 – 9pm, when the winning art pieces will be presented for bidding at a silent auction.

7.25.11 Update, excerpted from the email sent to participating artists by event coordinator Liz Wan:

We would like to express our deepest gratitude for your support of our industry, our community and the spirit of art! We thank you very much for entering this years art competition. As this was our first year, we had no idea what to expect but we knew that we wanted to make local artists an integral part of the expanded festival. So we braved ahead in putting together an art competition and were overwhelmed by the level of talent viewed in the pieces received.

Please join us in congratulating Jaime Byrn, as her art piece “Ladybug” was chosen the 2011 art competition winner! Jaime will receive a $1,000 grand prize and her oil on canvas “Ladybug” will be featured in the artwork for next year’s festival and will be auctioned off at next years silent auction.

We would at this time like to invite you all to feature your art pieces in this years public display to be held in the auditorium of Bigham Knoll on August 27th from 2 to 5pm and in our silent auction to be held at both our Gala Dinner Friday, August 26th & at our Grand Tasting August 27th. You would be able to set your own minimum bid and 50% of the proceeds of your artwork garnered at auction would be paid to you.

If you would like to be a featured artist at this years festival, please reply to this email to confirm your preference. You will then also want to have your piece digitized and framed in time to deliver the physical piece & file to:
Bigham Knoll
525 East E Street
Jacksonville, OR 97530
To arrange a drop off please contact Tasha at 541.770.9000

Deadline to receive all physical artwork is August 19th.

Thank you for supporting Southern Oregon’s World of Wine Festival!
