“My work exists as an invitation for viewers to examine their ecological interactions and relationships. I aspire to evoke deep reverence for the inherent connection with our plant and animal kin before they fade into distant memories due to human negligence. I create art as a form of activism and land stewardship that fosters mutualism and intimacy facilitated through the reciprocal act of printmaking. My work embraces collective experiences of life and death that promote sustainability while honoring the natural cycles of growth, decay and regeneration.
My most recent work exposes my ritualized obsession with collecting, organizing, illustrating and rearranging my personal archive of found artifacts. The time spent harvesting and working with natural materials bonds me with local ecologies. By reproducing these reclaimed remains in copper, I immortalize and perpetuate their existence through replication via the art of printmaking. A renewal of kinship with our cohabitants is necessary for our shared futures to endure.”

I care, a lot, about everything. I’ve often wished I could turn down the dial or switch it off entirely, however that’s the place from which the art flows. In painting another human being, I get to express this care. When I give detail to my subject’s feelings and experience, it communicates, “I see you. You matter.”
(From artist’s statement)
Through portraiture, Belinda strives to capture the beauty of each face and connect to the story behind it, truly seeing and celebrating every subject.

“Over many years, I have created artwork across multiple mediums as homage to Jazz music and musicians. Throughout the process of creating an image, I aim to be as spontaneous as possible. I am always actually trying to visualize sound.
The important thing is that each work is created in the Spirit of Jazz and of musical performance in general.
Though all the musicians you see here are individuals who live and work now, few of them have ever played with each other in real life. At the same time, if you care to ask me, I can probably tell you where each musician makes his/her home and where I heard them.
Enjoy the show!”

November Art Show at Central Art Gallery FEATURING: IVAN BEAUVALET During Medford’s 3rd Friday Art Walk November 19th, 2021 5-8pm
Central Art Gallery is proud to announce our Featured Artist for November, Ivan Beauvalet. The show will be at Central Art Gallery from 5-8pm on Friday, November 19th during Medford’s 3rd Friday Art Walk. Central Art Gallery is located at 101 N. Central in Medford.
This new body of work focuses on documenting current events and everyday life in an increasingly fast paced and chaotic world. Ivan’s works are made specifically with the idea of creating a physical object which has been developed through contemplation and the time necessary to engage in the activity of applying paint to canvas. It is through this slow and deliberate process that he aims to contrast, if not subvert, the modern preoccupation of sharing information through casually taken photos on tiny screens. These new paintings represent Ivan’s thoughts and observations on what is happing today in his local environment as well as the world around him.
