Britt Festival Extends Deadline for Artists Call

This note is to inform you that Britt is extending the application period for the Fine Arts Poster Call to Artists. We will accept application until August 15th to make sure artists who are off enjoying summer vacations have a chance to apply.
We will come around to a few of the local galleries with some more flyers – until then please pass the word along to all artists you know who might be interested in becoming one of the Britt Fine Artists.

Rogue Gallery and Britt Blend Music and Art May 18th

Art and Music have always gone well together…. and that is why the Rogue Gallery and Art Center 
and Britt Festival are excited to blend music and art this year!

Teddy Abrams will be at the Rogue Gallery to talk about his passion – music.

Teddy Abrams, Director and coinductor of the Britt OrchestraTeddy Abrams is a versatile musician and widely-acclaimed Director and Conductor of the Britt Orchestra. He plays the piano, clarinet and composes. A tireless advocate for the power of music, Abrams fosters interdisciplinary collaboration with organizations including the Louisville Ballet, the Center for Interfaith Relations, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the Speed Art Museum, and the Folger Shakespeare Library.

In addition on the May 18 Third Friday Art Walk, the Rogue Gallery will celebrate two new exhibits. The Main Gallery exhibit “Art in Bloom: Darla Baack, Vera Melynk & Kathy Morawiec” features Mosaics, Glass & Paintings. The Community Gallery exhibit “Seductive Pathways: Photographs by Vivian McAleavey” displays mysterious and beautiful photography. Come meet the talented artists of these exhibits!

Refreshments and wine will be served. Wine provided by Weisinger Family Winery. May 18th at 6:30 pm, Teddy will bring his keyboard and talk about music at the Rogue Gallery. Don’t miss this special event!

Sue Bennett’s Painting Wins Britt Poster Contest!

The Southern Oregon Artists Resource would like to congratulate SOAR member, watercolorist  Sue Bennett of Jacksonville, Oregon, whose painting “Moon Music” was selected by the Britt Festival to illustrate their 2015 concert poster! The poster will be unveiled at the Taste of Summer celebration of the Britt Festival season opening on Saturday, June 6, 2015. You can learn more about Sue’s experience and the painting in an article in the Jacksonville Review, which will be on the streets and their website by the time we publish this notice. Way to go, Sue!
