SOAR Welcomes Jessica Lee!

Mixed Media painting by Jessica Lee of Ashland, Oregon

Jessica Lee

The Southern Oregon Artists Resource is honored to introduce mixed media artist Jessica Lee of Ashland. Her collage paintings incorporate repurposed and ecological materials delivering deep color, textures, and layered assemblages. The mother of two finds inspiration in the nature of petals, branches, feathers, botanicals and the ocean. Furthermore, these organic materials often enhance her paintings. With a foundation as an advocate and guide for young artists, Jessica Lee’s first collections of mixed media creations are emerging for public display. We saw Jessica’s work during an exhibition at GoodBean Coffee in November 2016. We were impressed by her originality and capable use of simplicity and complexity in her paintings.

“Eclipse,” Mixed media painting by Jessica Lee

“I create mixed media art because it is an empowering way for me to communicate.  It’s the essential language in my daily life, and helps me make sense of my emotions and dreams.   Combining colors, mixing mediums together and feeling paint and textures on my hands entertains me.  Layers of varied tones help me tell the story.  I thrive on a decadent mix of relaxed yet whimsical mystery. Lace is one of my favorite materials because it is delicate and requires such patience.  Utilizing repurposed and ecological materials gives new meaning to my designs.  Rivers, botanicals, stones, wood and feathers inspire me.  Being an artistic advocate and guide for children completes the picture.”
