Living here is an endless source of inspiration for many of my watercolor paintings. Oregon landscapes and rivers have been a favorite subject, as well as still life, florals and architecture. Another source of inspiration is traveling with my husband. We love Italy, the place of my family’s roots. I find the rich textures and colors of old world cultures, as well as the people, wonderful subjects to paint. It was here in Oregon that I was introduced to watercolors. I’ve had the privilege of learning under the instruction of accomplished watercolorists like Lavonne Tarbox-Crone, Judy Morris and Margaret Godfrey. These wonderful artists have inspired and nurtured me, but above all I want to acknowledge that my abilities are a gift of the Creator, whose beautiful masterpieces cannot be rivaled. I have been a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon since 2004. Visit my new website at lindaabblettwatercolor.com!

New Video!
I’m so delighted that a friend who came to visit recently made a lovely video with clips of me teaching art classes. I like my new video so much that I even posted it on the About page of my website. Enjoy watching my new video…it will only take one minute of your time.

“Ready to Roast,” Original Watercolor Painting 22″ x 15″
I will be showing my original watercolor paintings (and maybe a giclee or two) at GoodBean Coffee this year! My show begins March 1 and continues through March 31. I’m not yet sure which paintings I will bring, but there will be a selection of framed paintings from the pieces you see on my website. I hope you will find time to stop by and enjoy a cup of the GoodBean’s wonderful coffee and a treat from their bakery while you enjoy my work. If one of my paintings captures your heart, please contact Hannah West, the GoodBean’s art curator, at 541-899-2012 or email [email protected] to inquire and to make your purchase.
If you find that one of my paintings captures your heart, please contact Hannah West, the GoodBean’s art curator, at 541-899-2012 or email [email protected] to inquire and to make your purchase. You might be interested to know that one of the things I love about showing at the ‘Bean (as it’s affectionately called) is they do not take a percentage of the sale price! Many galleries charge 40% or even more. However, the owners of the GoodBean have never intended to profit from the art that’s shown in their café, and they leave it to the artist’s discretion as to whether and how much they might want to donate to Mrs. West for her efforts.
The GoodBean is located at 165 South Oregon St. Jacksonville, OR 97530. Currently, their hours are 6am-6pm.

New paintings added to lindaabblettwatercolors.com
I recently completed two new works and discovered another that had not previously been added to my website. There are now three new paintings added to lindaabblettwatercolors.com for you to see! Click any image to learn more.
Biscotti and Lavender New painting added 6/1/16. Original Watercolor 11″ x 15″
First, a new watercolor painting named “Biscotti and Lavender.”
I’ve been experimenting with new ways of rendering my subjects. This one introduces a bit of transparency into subjects of the still life, a ceramic biscotti jar and vase with fruits, vegetables and lavender flowers. For those who love purple, this lavender-centric watercolor painting is the one for you!
Music Under the Night Lights New Painting added 6/1/16 Original Watercolor 15″ x 11″
Next, another new watercolor named “Music Under the Night Lights.”
This painting was inspired by an outdoor music festival under the stars and lights of an Italian village called Bonasola. I experimented with pouring the paint on this one. This resulted in a different style for me, but it’s a fun effect and I’m happy with the results.
Sweet and Sour in Sorrento Original Watercolor 15″ x 11″
“Sweet and Sour in Sorrento” is another painting inspired by my travels in Italy. I loved the contrast of the yellow and red when I saw this fruit hanging on a road side shed. It is not one of my new works, but was inadvertently left out of the images I sent to webmistress Hannah West when we created my new website last year.
I currently have more paintings exhibited in the “Celebrate” show at Art Presence Art Center in Jacksonville, Oregon for June and July. Please visit the gallery to see my paintings in the show. The reception will be Saturday, June 11 from noon to 3pm – do join us, I would love to meet you! I hope you will also enjoy looking through my website and considering a purchase for you home or professional office.

Prices Reduced on Original Watercolors!
Over the past few weeks I have been sifting through all my original watercolors. There are many beloved pieces in my collection of originals, but there are older paintings that need to find their permanent homes. After looking through them all, I felt I needed to clear some of my inventory out to make room for new paintings, so there were more pieces that got price changes as well. These selections include some of my favorite paintings from places I have traveled around the world, as well as Oregon summertime paintings and some beautiful florals and still life pieces. The end result: when looking through my online shop, you will find many prices reduced on original watercolors…over half of them! Some paintings have been repriced with a modest discount of $25, but others will yield savings of up to $175 over the original price. I hope that, after looking through my watercolor offerings, you will find that the ones you love most are the paintings with new, lower prices.
The original prices are no longer shown on the website. However, below is a gallery that will give you a peek at the paintings which have had their prices reduced (viewing the enlarged version in the gallery pages will show you the original price). Beneath is a list of titles in the same order with links to the shop where you can learn more, see the new prices, and make a purchase. Sorry we couldn’t provide the links in the captions…we tried and it caused problems elsewhere on the site.
Some of my giclée prints have had their prices reduced as well. I hope you will enjoy looking through my catalog of watercolor paintings, and that you will find something you’d enjoy hanging in your home or office. Thank you so much for considering a purchase of Linda Abblett Watercolors!

First Plein Air Outing for Linda Abblett’s Art Students!
I am continuing to have watercolor classes in my home studio. I have a great group of mostly beginners. It’s so fun to see their excitement and their emerging talent!
Last week I took the group on their first field trip. We went on a plein air outing to the Antelope Creek covered bridge in Eagle Point,to practice the skills they’ve been learning in the studio. The Eagle Point covered bridge proved to be a great subject. Here are some pictures of my students working on their plein air paintings and the wonderful results of their efforts.
You are invited to join us! This won’t be the last time we do this, and after taking classes with Linda Abblett sooner than you think, you will be going with on on your own first plein air outing for Linda Abblett’s art students! Watercolor class with Linda Abblett is every Monday from 10:00am – 3:00 pm. Classes take place at Linda’s home studio in Eagle Point. It’s $30 for the day. Students bring a bag lunch. For more information contact Linda at [email protected].
