Eva Thiemann – A Series of Wolves

This month’s exhibition at KS Wild includes paintings by Eva Thiemann. With a passion for nature, Eva captures the realistic beauty of her subjects while opting for surrealistic and dreamy backgrounds. Her viewers are invited to not only see the majesty of the animals that are found in her compositions, but to also feel the experience amidst mountain valleys and deep wooded forests. Educated in Riga, Latvia, Eva enjoys traveling throughout the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and the Rockies, immersing herself in the flora and fauna that these beautiful regions have to offer.

Eva Thieman Announces Owl Exhibit

Eva Thieman Announces Owl ExhibitEva Thiemann Announces Owl Exhibit - My oil paintings of owls are on exhibit at the Eagle Point Public Library from now until mid-March

Eva Thiemann announces today that an exhibit of her oil paintings of owls is hanging at the Eagle Point Public Library from now until the middle of March.

Eva is originally from Latvia. She came to the USA in 1997, lived in Alaska for 6 years and in 2003 moved to Applegate,Oregon.

Ms. Thiemann earned an Art degree from the Academie of Art and a Biology degree from the University of Riga, Latvia. She has created sculptures in bronze. Some of them are in private collections in Latvia, Germany and England.

When Eva came to Alaska, she was overwhelmed by its beauty and wildness. For the first time in her life, she was able to observe Alaska’s magnificient inhabitants — brown bears. On numerous camping trips to Denali National Park she saw bears on the tundra with spectacular mountain scenery, and in Katmai National Park she came within close proximity of bears fishing at rivers and salmon streams.

Since then, painting brown bears integrated with Alaska scenery became Eva’s passion. One episode of her video of a bear fight at Brooks Falls has been included in the National Geographic movie “King Bear.”

After many years of painting bears exclusively, Eva began painting owls to great reviews. Thiemann’s unique mix of realism and abstraction results in colorful and effective renditions of her subjects in exquisite oil paintings.

Eva Thiemann Show At Belle Fiore

Eva Thiemann Show At Belle Fiore : The Beauty of the Bear - Painter Eva Thiemann's fascination with Alaskan Brown Bears was piqued when she moved from Latvia to Alaska in 1997. She observed and photographed these bears while on her many camping trips to Denali and Katmai National Parks. At Denali, she watched bears in their natural habitat on the tundra, and at Katmai she watched them fish for salmon in streams and rivers. Thiemann uses oil paints to interpret her visions of Alaskan Brown Bears in their wilderness environments, which will be displayed through January at Belle Fiore Winery, 100 Belle Fiore Lane (off Dead Indian Memorial Road), Ashland. Hours will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Thiemann holds an art degree from the Art Academy of Latvia in Riga and a biology degree from the University of Latvia, also in Riga. Thiemann moved to the Applegate Valley after six years in Alaska, but still travels back to her favorite places for inspiration. Her videography documenting Alaska's Brown Bears has been included in three National Geographic television specials: 'King Bear,' 'Urban Jungle' and 'Animal Fight Night.'

Artist Eva Thiemann is best known for her stunning oil paintings of Alaskan bears set in rich, abstract landscapes. Thiemann holds a degree from the Academie of Art and a Biology degree from the University of Riga, Latvia. “When I came to Alaska from Latvia in 1997 I was overwhelmed by its beauty; I was able to observe Alaska’s magnificent brown bears, and painting them with Alaskan scenery became my passion. In 2003 I came to Applegate, Oregon.”

Though Alaskan Brown bears have been her mainstay for many years, more recently Eva began painting Great Gray Owls as well, to a very warm reception. Of her owl paintings, Thiemann says, “I started painting Great Grey Owls after observing these rare birds and their nests around Howard Prairie. My first owls were exhibited at the Mountain Bird Festival in Ashland few years ago.” (Editor’s Note: The first annual event was in 2014.) This month Eva Thiemann announces three art exhibits featuring her work. Please visit Eva’s listing at www.soartists.com for web links to see more of her work and contact info.
