View all Dana Feagin's posts. About the author: I am an oil painter devoted to animal art, painting animals that I find interesting and amusing and commissioned pet portraits. My realistic style often uses solid colors or patterned backgrounds for a pop art feel, but I also love painting the faces of animals cropped very closely with no background at all. Many of my works feature animals from local rescue groups; 10% of my sales are donated to Sanctuary One in Jacksonville and Friends of the Animal Shelter in Phoenix. You can find my complete set of links and contact information in my listing at the Southern Oregon Artists Resource.
My painting of Cookies, a former blood donor cow, was featured on the cover of the Rogue Valley Messenger in December. That issue also includes an interview about me and my art, which you can find here.

One of my studio partners, and former shelter bunny, Mr Bean, is a model for the Bun Fund Spay/Neuter Campaign Fundraiser this year. Love this boy!

Stop in and see me, and the other amazing artist spaces, during the Ashland Open Studio Tour from 11AM-5PM this Saturday and Sunday. I will be painting, chatting with visitors, and showing off my mini studio remodel which reclaimed a storage space to make room for my expanded bunny family. Yes, I am a frequent foster failure and now share my space with five lagomorphs! Original artwork, prints, cards and Kat’s and my book “Love Rhymes with Everything; animal ruminations through poetry and paintings” will be available for purchase with all proceeds benefitting Sanctuary One. Maps of all artist locations are available online and at all Ashland galleries. This event is free to the public and a fun way to spend the day – even if you just visit a couple studios. If you complete an attendance card and leave it at the last studio you visit, you will be entered to win a raffle for 2 free tickets to A Taste of Ashland in the spring or $100 off local art!

For International Rabbit Day, Saturday, September 22nd, we have a donor match, dollar to dollar up to $500 for donations made to the Friends of the Animal Shelter Bun Fund! These funds ensure that all rabbits coming into the Jackson County Animal Shelter as strays and surrenders are spayed or neutered prior to going into adoption. This helps more rabbits stay in their new homes as behavioral issues are lessened, they are easily litter box trained, and female rabbits avoid common reproductive cancers, as well as unwanted litters of baby bunnies every month. Help us grow the Bun Fund and take advantage of this generous match.

I am back on the Ashland Open Studio Tour again this year! Come by and visit me in my home studio, the weekend of October 13th and 14th, from 11-5PM. It’s also my bunnies’ home, so if you are allergic to rabbits, be forewarned. However, some of my work will be outside on my patio. All sales proceeds from my open studio will be donated to Sanctuary One, a care farm in the Applegate Valley. Maps are now available at local galleries and will also be available online before the event.
