April Classes and WorkshopsHappy Spring! I have met the most wonderful people in my classes this year. My heart overflows with love, inspiration and thankfulness for the connection that happens when we all walk together in the passion of our creativity. Spring Art Classes and WorkshopsSpring is approaching! Well, it’s snowing here and there but I did see a bush in beautiful pink blossoms the other day.
The students in the last several workshops have created some amazing and really inspiring art pieces and I feel even more excited to post this new series of workshops! Also, remember, every Thursday evening is, “Random Acts of Art,” where you can drop in and play in a, “candy store, ” of art all evening for just $10. You can join in the Asian art of Sumi-e and Tea Tasting on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 and Wednesday evenings at 7:00, called, Sake and Sumi-e. All materials are provided in any and every class I teach.

Translated, ‘Black Ink-Painting,” is where art and art of living come together. In these classes, you will explore the simplicity and spontaneity of the essence of nature. In this painting-method, as in Zen practice, reality is expressed by reducing it to its pure bare form. You will find this practice extremely therapeutic and heart calming.

2019 Winter Art Classes and WorkshopsHappy New Year to all of you creative souls! We have moved some things around at Kindred Spirits and I have taken over part of the space as my studio/workshop where it will be much more convenient to teach art classes and celebrate your creations through art walks and events. What I want to accomplish, through my classes is not so much that you look at your creation to reach your ideal of perfection, but through the creative process, find your soul, see what amazing gift you have been blessed with and through that, share with the rest of the world. (Who knows what changes we can make). I’m offering but a catalyst and a space to move forward with this in mind.
Below is a list of some of the classes and workshops we will be having as well as a series of Sumi-e classes on Wednesday evenings and some mornings. Also Thursday evenings are, “Random Acts of Art,”-open studio style.

 | The Heart Reliquary
For all of you that requested this class again.
This three dimensional wall hanging is just in time for Valentines Day. Made with doors that open to a niche, these charming little creations can house a special memento or a cool trinket. The size is approx. 7″x 8″, give or take an inch. All materials are provided, including paints, papers and really fun embellishments.

Okay, you wanted another round vessel class, here it is!
This mixed media creation is so fun I am addicted to making these myself. The piece you will be making is made with clay, wire, natural and decorative papers (mache style), acrylic paint and other embellishments that suit your fancy. I added tassels and beads to this one.

 | Ceremonial Tribal Rattle
It’s an instrument and an art piece!
The Native American style rattle holds deep symbolism and represents, through it’s formation and sound, “The three kingdoms or nations,” the animal kingdom, the plant kingdom and the mineral kingdom (earth). All materials are provided in this mixed media piece including beautiful natural elements.

Kukur Tihar Celebration of Dogswith FOTA and Kindred Spirits Kindred Spirits teams up with Friends of the Animal Shelter to host a two day festival this weekend, July 8th and 9th, called “The Nepali Kukur Tihar Celebration of Dogs.”
We’ve based our festival on the yearly celebration honoring dogs and their relationship with humans, which has a rich history in Hindu society and spirituality. Friday, July 8: Talent Second Friday ArtWalk Theme: The DogFriday we open our doors at 4:00 for Talent’s 2nd Friday Art Event. Our theme at Kindred Spirits is, of course, The Dog. Enjoy our fun display of art; 20% of the art sales at Kindred goes to FOTA. Saturday, July 9: The Blessing of the Dogs at Kindred SpiritsSaturday is “The Blessing of the Dogs” at Kindred Spirits, 106 Talent Ave, from 11:00 to 4:00. Bring your dog(s). Bill Turner is a professional speaker and trainer from eastern Oregon. Because he is well known for his healing energy work on people, dogs and competition horses, we chose him to offer the Blessing to the dogs at this ceremony. Dogs will receive a “Malla,” or garland necklace. The malla is a mark of respect and dignity and symbolizes the prayers that go with the dog. A red mark, known as the “Tika,” a temporary red mark, will be applied to the forehead of each dog. Since the tika marks the dog with an air of sacredness, it acts as a blessing to those who encounter the dog. Friends of the Animal Shelter will be there both days; on Saturday they bring shelter dogs for this dedication and the opportunity for adoption. Please join us for this festival as we offer our blessings to each wonderful dog, their owners and potential owners and all participants in the celebration of man’s best friend.
