The purpose of the Art Jewelry Forum’s (AJF) Artist Award for an emerging jewelry artist is to acknowledge promise, innovation, and individuality in the work of an emerging jewelry artist and to advance the career of a promising artist. The award consists of an unrestricted cash award of $7,500. An emerging artist is defined, for the purpose of this award, as one who is at an early stage in their career, who has found their voice, has created a modest independent body of work, shows significant potential for continuing to create new work and is beginning to receive acknowledgement of their work but is currently under-recognized.

Earth, Fire and Fibre Biennial Juried Exhibition –

This popular biennial juried applied art exhibition was established more than 25 years ago to encourage the creation of new works by Alaska artists in clay, glass, metal, wood, fiber, skin, bone or stone and will be on view at the Anchorage Museum October 6, 2013 until January 5, 2014. The exhibit will then tour for one year and visit Juneau and Fairbanks. Only artists residing in Alaska are eligible.

Proceeds of sales will be distributed with 50% going to the artist and 50% going to the Portland Community College Industrial Jobs Training Program scholarship fund.

Artspace Artists Association (AAA) is an organization of artists working together in Raleigh, NC to promote growth of the individual artist, to provide an environment of interaction with other artists and with the public, and to foster the mission of Artspace. Professional artists interested in becoming a member of the Artspace Artists Association must be juried in through a two-stage jury process. The first phase of the jurying takes place through Artists who pass the first phase of the jury must be able to bring their work to Artspace in Raleigh, NC for the second phase of jurying.

City of Santa Clarita: Magic Mountain Interstate 5 Off Ramp Art Project –

The City of Santa Clarita is seeking an artist (or team of artists) to provide for the design and construction of a community entry art piece along Magic Mountain Parkway and the exit from the 5 Freeway (North). The artwork will be situated prominently on a large wall at intersection of Magic Mountain Parkway and the off ramp from Interstate 5.
The new art work will welcome visitors and help define the image of the City by creating a landmark entrance. Motorists exiting the 5 Freeway at the Magic Mountain Parkway northbound and those traveling eastbound on Magic Mountain Parkway will be greeted by this art piece.

A budget of $15,000 must cover all associated costs of the project, including but not limited to, design, fabrication, materials, labor, transportation, insurance, consulting fees (such as structural engineering or testing), installation, permit fees, per diem, and taxes for both pieces. It is the responsibility of the artist to purchase all the art materials necessary to complete the project.

The following project goals will help guide the selection of the commissioned artwork:
1. Artwork is of an original, site-specific design(s).
2. Artwork is fabricated in a durable, low maintenance material that will withstand the heat and other elements of Santa Clarita.
3. Artwork is complementary to the overall context of the park and surrounding area.
4. The piece must not cause driver distractions or confusion.
5. Artwork must be installed no later than October 31, 2013.
