Call to Artists: Takin' It to the Street Chalk Art & Music Festival, Medford

Muralist Cathy Gallatin announces a Call to Artists for a first annual Chalk Art Festival to take place in Medford this June! The “Takin it to the Street Chalk Art & Music Festival” will be held in downtown Medford on Bartlett St. between Main & 8th Streets on June 23rd & 24th. The festival’s theme for 2012 is “People ‘Round the World.”

All artists are welcome to apply. You don’t have to be an experienced chalk artist, and we would love to see a range of emerging and accomplished artists participating. A street painting seminar with instruction by our featured artist will be held on Friday June 22nd, at 6:00 PM in Front of Rogue Gallery on Bartlett St. You will have an 8′ x 8′ space to create your chalk art over one weekend.

Your chalk art can be a reproduction of a masterpiece or an original. If the image you choose is a reproduction, please be aware of copyright laws ~ if in doubt, GET WRITTEN PERMISSION! Artists must submit a sketch or color copy of the image you intend to recreate for the festival ~ artists will not be accepted without submitting an image of their proposed street painting.

The deadline for this call is April 15th. The artist review process begins May 15, and applicants will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance by the end of May. The festival will seek sponsors for all artists; artists who provide a sponsor will still need to submit their proposal. Please refer to the application for more information and call Cathy at 541.840.2982 or email [email protected] if you have any further questions.
