City of Seattle: SPU Atmosphere and Weather Related Portable Works

The Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, in partnership with Seattle Public Utilities, invites artists to submit images of two-dimensional or three-dimensional artwork depicting weather-related or atmospheric phenomena for a competitive direct purchase for SPU’s Portable Works Collection. Artwork should reference air, water, temperature or light. and may or may not be representational. Artists working in color are encouraged to apply. The artwork must be available for purchase. Purchases are chosen by a panel of arts professionals who are charged with selecting high-quality artwork that reflects diversity of expression. The call is open to professional artists residing in Washington, Oregon, British Columbia, Montana, Idaho or Alaska. Applications close 11 p.m., Jan. 28, 2013, (Pacific Standard Time).

Broward Addiction Recovery Center Project and Nancy J. Cotterman Center Project

The Broward Cultural Division’s Public Art & Design Program is seeking to commission one or two artists or artist teams to design, build and install functionally integrated public art projects for the Broward Addiction Recovery Center servicing adult residents of Broward County struggling with substance abuse, and the Nancy J. Cotterman Center servicing victims of sexual assault and child abuse crimes.

Artwork opportunities include but are not limited to durable, low maintenance enhancements to the building interiors, exterior courtyards and therapeutic gardens. Specific locations for artwork opportunities are to be determined as a result of collaboration and interaction with project team and agency during design team meetings after the artist is selected. The addition of functionally integrated public art to this project is intended to affect attitude, emotional state and perception in a positive and uplifting way, create hope and help clients better cope with difficulties, and result in environments that are more welcoming and uplifting for clients, their families and visitors.

These projects are on a fast track for the artist selection process and for the artist to collaborate with the design team to integrate the artwork to the site. The architect has been selected and schematic design for the two facilities has already commenced. Interested artists should apply only if they are able to commit intensive time to the project during the spring of 2013 when the most effective collaborations with the design team are anticipated to occur.

Metro State Creates Spring 2013 Virtual Incubator and Exhibition

The Call for Entries- The Center for Innovation (CFI) at Metropolitan State University of Denver is proud to announce and launch the first virtual incubator in higher education in Colorado for all members of the Colorado Creative Industries community, “MetroState Creates”. This program creates an atmosphere for up and coming creative entrepreneurs (students, faculty, staff, alumni and community entrepreneurs) that will help them thrive by guiding them to the road to success. With a prime location in Denver, MetroState Creates future clients have the opportunity for guidance in business plan creation, accounting, finance, marketing, planning and implementation. In addition to the incubator opportunity, the Center is hosting a juried show for all Colorado Creative Industries providing showroom space.

New Mexico Arts Art in Public Places program and the Local Selection Committee at the University of New Mexico seek an artist or artist team specializing in lighting design, multimedia and/or video installation for a public art project at The Pit on the university’s south campus. The artwork commissioned for this project will enliven the stair tower at the northeastern corner of the building through a dynamic nighttime installation programmed to convey the excitement of activities held at the facility, and will have a presence within the City of Albuquerque.

An all-inclusive budget of $200,000 is available for this project. This amount includes all associated expenses and fees.

Nude Nite, in its 14th year is the largest nude art show in the country. The show is held annually in Orlando/Tampa. Each show is treated separately so artists may apply to both. Genre’s represented range from sculpture, mixed media, metal, oil, acrylic, watercolor, digital, photography, glass, woodcraft, found object and film.

Durham Arts Council: Annual Call for Artists 2013-2014
DEADLINE: 1/31/2013

Jury Fee: $15.00

The Durham Arts Council issues an annual call to 2-D visual artists to select work for exhibit in its Allenton and Semans Galleries. This year the DAC is also searching for artists who create large 2-D works to exhibit in the pre-function hall of the Durham Convention Center in downtown Durham.

Screening panels change annually and consist of art professionals from the area. Exhibits selected through this Call for Artists will take place between August 2013 and August 2014. Selected artists will generally receive one entire gallery for a solo exhibition. Artists from all geographic locations are eligible to apply, however artists are responsible for transporting their work to the Durham Arts Council and installing it.

Durham Arts Council’s Artist Services Department coordinates and promotes exhibition receptions in our historic downtown Durham facility, produces and distributes media promotion, and creates wall labels and text panels for the galleries.

LAPS 21st National Exhibition
DEADLINE: 2/1/2013

Jury Fee: $35.00

The LAPS 21st National Exhibition is a major, juried bi-annual show with more than $4,000.00 in awards. Organized by the Los Angeles Printmaking Society, it is open to all artists residing in the US and Canada. Accepted artists receive one year free LAPS membership and a full color catalog of the exhibition.

2013 Alexander Rutsch Award and Exhibition for Painting
DEADLINE: 2/1/2013

Jury Fee: $30.00
Event Dates: 5/3/2013 – 6/29/2013

Biannual, national juried competition in painting. $5,000 cash prize and solo exhibition in greater-NYC gallery, May 3–June 29, 2013. ELIGIBILITY: U.S.-based artists, 19 years of age and older. All work submitted must be available for exhibit.

Diversity in Nature – In:Site|Ex:Site
DEADLINE: 2/1/2013

Jury Fee: $25.00

In|Site:Ex|Site/Pinedale and The Learning Center of Pinedale seek an artist complete a one week residency at The Learning Center Preschool. During the residency the children and artist will develop a concept for a permanent sculpture installation. The project Diversity in Nature will foster stewardship between the community of Pinedale and its natural world. The call is open to all Regional Artists.
