First Friday Event at AAC
MARCH First FridayFREE Community Art Event
March 4 @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Featured Upstairs Studio Artists: The Wonderful World of Wool.
Felted Wool Creations by Jo Ann Manzone, studio #9, and Liza Hamilton, studio #3
This month features two our uniquely talented fiber artists, Jo Ann
Manzone & Liza Hamilton. The deceptively simple and extremely complex properties of felt can be seen in beautiful Jo
Ann’s flowing garments, and Liza’s intricate sculpted creatures. Explore the magic of wool.
Featured Photographer of the Month: David Lorenz Winston
David Lorenz Winston is an award-winning, internationally recognized photographer based in Talent, Oregon. A selection of his photographs entitled “Fleeting Moments” will be on display at The Photographers Gallery at the Ashland Art Center from
March 4, 2016.
David is particularly known for his winter landscapes. However, his work is not limited to the natural landscape. He is equally at home reflecting on the human condition and uncovering surprises in the ordinary. He brings a unique way of seeing to his work expressed through humor, irony, timing and mystery.
One of David’s favorite visual quests is finding candid moments in which people are totally themselves. He tries to unite the elements of timing, irony and design into these images. These new images represent just a small cross-section of his work in this genre.
David has received many honors for his work, which has been exhibited and published nationally. He was artist in residence at Crater Lake National Park and in 2014 won a Haines Philanthropic Foundation Grant.
Featured Musician: Daniel Sperry
Daniel Sperry is an innovative, genre-stretching cellist, composer, and evocateur from Ashland, OR, who specializes in creating Musical Portraits for individuals as markers for special occasions and as gifts for loved ones.
He performs all over the country in house concerts featuring these portraits, the poetry of Rumi, Hafiz and others along with his original music, opera arias, and standards.
