Video: EA Luetkemeyer Reads from “Penitentiary Tales: A Love Story”

An informal book reading of “Penitentiary Tales: A Love Story” by EA Luetkemeyer, followed by a conversation with Ginna Gordon and questions from participants. Recorded March 12, 2021.

Penitentiary Tales: A Love Story recounts the escapades of Dean Davis, a thirty-something, educated, straight white male from the affluent community of Sausalito, in Marin County, California, who is sent to an Illinois prison dominated by a daunting, ethnically diverse population of inmates from the mean streets of Chicago.

How does he do his time? What challenges does he meet?

Addressing issues of race and gender in America, Penitentiary Tales: A Love Story is at once a serious inquiry into the minds and hearts of the marginalized and the oppressed and a bit of a romp. It will appeal to adventurous and intelligent readers of all persuasions who appreciate a literary walk on the wild side.

Our Guest Exhibit is Woodcraft, a show of handcrafted wood works by members of The Siskiyou Woodcraft Guild. The show opens Friday, March 5 and remains on display through Sunday, March 28.

The Woodcrafters’ 2020 show only lasted two weeks due to COVID cancellation. Come to the gallery and see these beautifully crafted works by Bruce Millbank, Jens Sehm and John Harden. Learn more about the guild and its members at siskiyouwoodcraftguild.org.

Not comfortable coming to the gallery to view the artworks on display? No problem, the March 2021 Exhibits Virtual Tour will be ready soon.
