Celebrate Ashland’s Visual Arts during the AGA First Friday Art Walk, October 6th from 5 to 8 pm!
Stroll the galleries and take in the visual delights in downtown Ashland and the Historic Railroad District. Enjoy this free year-round community event, filled with a diverse array of artwork, live music, artist demonstrations, refreshments and lively conversation!
Hop on the First Friday Trolley! The trolley will run from 5:00 to 10:00 PM and travel around downtown to the Plaza, Historic Railroad District and out to the Schneider Museum and CVA Galleries.

Drawing on the Dream: Original Prints & Book Signing by Denise Kester & Illustrated Ceramics by Julia Janeway,
Drawing on the Dream we will feature new original monoprints by Denise Kester and the vibrantly illustrated ceramics of Julia Janeway. Drawing on the Dream is the title of Denise Kester’s new book about her creative process and the characters that populate her dreams and her images.
Denise’s book will be available for purchase and signing during the artist reception on First Friday, October 6th 5-8 p.m.
Show runs October 6th-November 1st.

Love Rhymes with Everything: Animal Ruminations Through Poetry and Paintings” Oil paintings by Dana Feagin
This Art Show features whimsical animal paintings & framed prints by Dana Feagin, paired with poetry by Kat von cupcake, written from the animal’s perspective. These paintings and poems, among others, are also featured in Dana and Kat’s book with the same title, published by Ashland Creek Press. The opening reception during Ashland’s First Friday on October 6th, will include select poetry readings and discussion about the animals behind the artwork at 6:30PM. 100% of sales proceeds from this show will be donated to Sanctuary One, a non-profit care farm & animal rescue organization in Jacksonville.
The paintings will be on view from October 3 through October 29, 2017.

Glass art and demonstration by Dan Seffinger
Ashland based glass artist Daniel Seffinger will be displaying his glass art as featured gallery artist for the month of October. He will hold a demonstration on First Friday, October 6th, from 5:30-7:30 in the AAC classroom. Dan will discuss the processes he utilizes in making his kiln formed glass canes, murrines and stringers that are used as design elements in a number of his art pieces. Using glass stringers, people will have the opportunity to experiment with their own design lines in order to see what kinds of tapestry patterns they create. Daniel will also show the individual stages involved in the process of producing kiln formed glass canes and murrines that are used as design elements in his art pieces.

The Schneider Museum of Art presents Nathaniel Meade and Loren Munk, both from Brooklyn, NY and the late Clifford Wilton, who lived and worked in Ashland, OR, to present solo exhibitions with complimentary brochures alongside Highlights of the Permanent Collection. Our fall exhibitions and programming are generously supported by a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) grant.

Highlights of the Permanent Collection
View a selection of work from the Museum’s permanent collection with many of these selections in conversation with the exhibiting artists, Nat Meade, Loren Monk and Clifford Wilton. Patrons may view work by Alexander Calder, Waldo Pierce, David Siqueiros, Jack McLarty, Nelson Sandgren, Dale Chiluly and others.
The exhibitions will be complemented with published essays of the work by writers Allen Frame, Thomas Micchelli and Nicholas Wilton.
