PERISHABLE

Group Show features artists in many media – including a community interactive piece.

This show is designed to pair with A Taste of Ashland – an AGA event APU is participating in. Meditations range from the big ideas of life to the small pleasures we might over look any day.  Join us for the opening party on First Friday, April 4 from 5 – 8 pm.

The APU is a cooperative gallery, made up of 8 Full Members and many Supporting Members.  The Painters Union shows different work every month, always new or yet unseen in the Rogue Valley in solo, two person or group shows.  The gallery is called the Ashland Painters Union to call to mind the blue-collar hard working nature of making art and although called a painters union, the gallery shows work in all mediums.  It is a place for artists to show whatever they like, to experiment and explore new ideas.

Featuring Heidi Schwegler, Avantika Bawa, and Matt McCormick

For its spring exhibitions, the Schneider Museum of Art is presenting the first of a two-part exhibition of the Southern Oregon Site Project, generously supported by The Ford Family Foundation.  The project features two installations created in response to the site: the Museum, Southern Oregon University, and the greater Rogue Valley.

In flood.control, Avantika Bawa uses the history and geography behind the formation of Emigrant Lake as the conceptual parameters from which her installation has been created.

As an artist, Heidi Schwegler states that she “is drawn to the peripheral ruin, modifying discarded objects in order to give them a new sense of purpose.”  Her latest installation, to be premiered at the Schneider Museum of Art, is entitled Visibility Near Zero.

In addition, the Museum is showing The Great Northwest, which includes single-channel video, Chromira prints, and ephemera by Matt McCormick, an “experimental documentary based on the re-creation of a 3,200 mile road-trip through the Pacific Northwest made in 1958 by four Seattle women who thoroughly documented their journey in an elaborate scrapbook.”

Please join us on Thursday, April 3, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM for the opening reception for 3.  Quady North Wines is generously donating and pouring wine for the reception. The exhibition runs from Friday, April 4 through Saturday, May 31.  The Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Abstract Jazz

This month in our expanded gallery space we’re featuring watercolors from The Jazz Series by Jeannie Azzopardi and abstract nature photography by Zach Ehlert.

Jeannie’s style exhibits strokes of abandon and delight that charmingly captivate the viewer. As one fan says, “I totally love this art! Your paintings make me nostalgic for a time period I never lived in.”

Zach Ehlert attempts to capture the ethereal beauty of the natural world by experimenting with the infinite possibilities of the photographic process.
Bohemia Gallery occupies an intimate space within Rogue Frameworks and showcases a rotating variety of work by regional artists including: photography, painting and ceramics.
Rogue Frameworks is artist owned and operated, and offers a wide variety of quality, custom picture framing solutions.
