Please join local photographer, Julie Bonney at the Photographers Gallery in the Ashland Art Center during the June 3rd First Friday Artwalk.

She will be sharing her work entitled, “Springtime in the Rogue Valley”; so come and see what has aroused her senses and reawaked her joy of the beauty that can be found in springtime blossoms.


Spring is a special time of year when we are reminded of the renewal of life.  Trees begin to blossom and flowers awaken from their long winter sleep, beckoning us to join them as the days lengthen and the sun shines with warming rays.  Finding these fanciful treasures on a walk or a drive lifts the spirits, warms the heart and invites us into the natural world.

Led by the highly capable visual arts instructor Christy Boyd, these students have produced some exquisite art and are looking forward to sharing that artwork with you this coming June First Friday.

Fiber Art: Advanced Needle Felting with Liza Hamilton

In this advanced open studio-type felting class, Liza offers personalized instruction on creating wire armatured pose-able puppets and felted figures, life-size animal sculptures, detailed ‘Fiber Paintings’, adding fine details, and more. Painting: Anatomy Lectures by Robert Beverly Hale with Sarah F Burns

We will view all ten of Robert Beverly Hale’s legendary lectures on Artistic Anatomy, given at the Art Students League in NYC during the 1960’s. These videos are old, black and white and not HD, but contain deep fonts of knowledge for the figurative artist. Figurative Artist and Teacher Sarah F Burns will introduce each lecture and facilitate discussion afterward, using skeletal model and references.

Fiber Art: Creative Needle Felting with Liza Hamilton

This fun, open studio type class will provide many options for felting projects including working around a wire armature, 2D ‘fiber paintings’, felted jewelry, mobiles, murals, and more. Ideal for adults and ages 10+ who have some felting experience, or have first taken the Felting Friday beginner-level class. Sample creations, demonstrations, and personalized instruction will ensure everyone creates wonderful works of art. Ceramics: The Figure in Clay | Heads and Hands with Nadine Gay

This is a structured class that will take you on an exploration of what might be the most expressive parts of the figure: heads and hands. You’ll be introduced to the work of artists which displays a wide range of interpretations from realistic to abstract. The aim is for you to express your creativity while learning modeling techniques, structure and proportions. Clay is wonderfully suited for this endeavor. No previous experience is necessary. This is a safe non judgmental environment, open to beginners.

Join instructor Rebecca Gabriel for a three-day intensive workshop featuring OSF leading lady, Vilma Silva as our captivating model. Vilma will pose in costume, inspired by her role in this OSF’s season’s ‘Timon of Athens’, and preform a few favorite lines of dialogue. The workshop includes a 3-day pose, for three hours daily, an informal luncheon with Vilma, and tickets to the OSF production of “Timon of Athens.”  Sessions held in the main classroom at the AAC.

Painting: Watermedia Painting on Claybord with Pamela Haunschild

$135, includes all materials
August 13 & 14 @ 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm
This two-afternoon workshop is designed for everyone to have fun creating semi-abstract nature paintings with a mixture of highly pigmented watercolors and acrylic inks. We will create three 11×14 paintings; a night sky painting like the attached image and two natural materials paintings like those on my website: We will wash watercolors over leaves, grasses, stones and other natural materials to create unique paintings showing the beauty of nature. We will be working on Clayboard, a wonderful surface that allows for bright colors and special texture effects. The techniques we learn in class, however, can also be used on watercolor paper and other surfaces. All you need to bring are your brushes, the class fee covers everything else.

Fiber Art: *Botanical Printing & Dyeing with Jo Ann Manzone

Learn how to print and dye on fabric with plants, leaves, bark and natural dyes. Students will explore the wonderful world of natural dyeing and printing on silk and cotton. Instructor will provide plant material including eucalyptus, rose leaves, onion skins, avocado and some surprise materials. Students will supply silk and cotton fabric. Instructor will have fabric available for sale. Indigo will be available as one of the natural dyes. Includes CD with high-res JPG and hi-res and low-res TIF

Ezra will be shooting 3D and 2D pieces of artwork for artists on a monthly basis as needed. Work must be delivered before the start of your session and MUST be picked up by 5 pm that day.
