Inspirational Presentations, GALA and workshops

On November 9th and 10th in Ashland, Oregon an event will take place that may change the
face of Ashland’s highly-acclaimed art scene. Art Inspires Ashland will bring together some of the world’s most
creative minds from various schools of artistic expression for a weekend of presentations, discussions and workshops.
This event has been designed to inspire people from all walks of life. Inspiration motivates everything we
do on a daily basis. Think “TED” talks with hands-on workshop.

In the highlight of the weekend, featured artists will talk about their skills, inspirations, and accomplishments in 30-minute Inspirational Presentations held at the Historic Ashland Armory on Saturday, November 10th. Prior to the presentations,
there will be a catered Gala where the community can meet the artists. These same artists will lead workshops during the day on Saturday,
aimed at inspiring regional art students and adult artists to reach beyond anything they dreamed of creating.
“We wanted to create a unique event that is meant to inspire both artists and non-artists in the region.”
said Denise Baxter, Director of the Ashland Art Center.

The three artists are Eric Drooker, ( New
Yorker cover illustrator, Tracy Lee Stum, ( world-renowned 3D street painter and teacher, and
Georgina Hayns, ( LAIKA, Inc. Creative Supervisor and Puppet Fabricator. LAIKA, Inc. recently
released the stop-action movie “ParaNorman” in theaters in August. “Bringing these three amazing artists to
Ashland to present workshops and talk about their inspirations, we hope will inspire our arts community to even
greater things,” added Baxter.

Along with the Gala and Inspirational presentations, each artist will be giving workshops to teach their
skills to the community. Mr. Drooker will be giving a political poster creation workshop and Ms. Hayns will
presenting puppet fabrication at the Ashland Art Center. Ms. Stum will be leading a 3D street painting workshop
at the Historic Ashland Armory in which artist will create a 12 foot x 24 foot 3D street painting on plywood.

Tickets for the Gala, Inspirational Presentations and workshops are available now on-line at or at the Ashland Art Center.
