Art du Jour Third Friday News

Art du Jour Gallery’s board of directors have voted to continue with plans to hold a scaled down version of our Third Friday reception on July 17, 5 to 8 pm.  With more stringent social distancing regulations being in order, we will require that all visitors wear a protective face covering to enter the gallery. As a courtesy we will provide a mask at the door if someone without would like to enter and view our exhibits. For the time being we will not be offering any musical entertainment, but will have some seating set up in front of the gallery to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

Medford’s Art du Jour Gallery will offer to give a mask to anyone coming into the gallery expressing a desire to remain and view our artwork. We have also decided to hold-over a portion of the popular student art show through July. Roy Musitelli photo 7/1/20

July Featured Artist Dixie Kinser

Prior to becoming an artist, Dixie Kinser raised a family and earned degrees from Southern Oregon College.  After teaching for 12 years, she received a doctorate from University of the Pacific in Stockton, California.  She also served as teacher and administrator for Children’s Home of Stockton. After leaving education she was free to pursue an interest in art that had been neglected.  Already involved into part-time silk dyeing, Dixie next committed to learning watercolor.  She writes; “I studied with several teachers both in Stockton and the Rogue Valley.  I have been member of Gallery One, Grants Pass; Art Presence, Jacksonville; Art and Soul, Ashland; and Art du Jour, Medford.  My work has been shown in many other local venues in Medford, Ashland, Grants Pass, and Central Point.  I have had paintings in the Oregon Water Color Society show, as well as the National Juried show at Emerald Art Center in Eugene.  My work includes watercolor, acrylic, and collage.  I do both representational and abstract paintings.  I am a member of Watercolor Society of Oregon, Southern Oregon Society of Artists and Southern Oregon Art Alliance.”

Dixie is also currently on our board of directors.

For the rest of July Charity Hubbard’s student exhibit remains, as well as Charity’s own presentation in the salon. Take advantage of this opportunity to see some of the Rogue Valley’s best offering of bright young artistic talent.
