Art du Jour June Reopening

Art du Jour June Reopening

213 E. Main Street
Medford, OR 97501
TEMPORARY HOURS Tues – Sat., NOON – 4PM

Art du Jour Gallery, 213 E. Main Street in Medford, is cautiously moving ahead in reopening our artist’s cooperative with modifications to ways we safely showcase our members’ artwork. With respect for all, we want the volunteers who sit in our gallery to be safe. Therefore, we ask that everyone wear a mask when entering the gallery. We also recognize that floorspace limits our capacity for gatherings, therefore must regretably cancel all monthly Third Friday events for the foreseeable future. Private viewings by reservation are encouraged outside open business hours by contacting the gallery at the phone number above, by contacting your favorite artist, or through email at: [email protected].

For June we are bringing back the popular student art show known as: Charity Hubbard and Associates. See details below…

Featured Artist Charity Hubbard’s Student Associates

Southern Oregon resident Charity Hubbard has been a professional fine artist for over 20 years, and has a background in commercial illustration. She is trained in perspective and drafting, has illustrated by commission for architects and builders, rendering technical yet artistic architectural illustrations in a variety of mediums.  Charity’s current art pursuits are in fine art oil paintings of people, landscape, animals and architecture.  Charity teaches weekly private classes for youth and adults.

The practice of frequently painting from life on location “en plein air” and people from life is important to Charity.  She feels that the regular exercise of painting from life enables her to better capture life, light and a truer sense of atmosphere, even when painting from life is not possible.  She writes, “Each moment is a gift and a place in time that will never happen again, perhaps similar to how an historian might feel, it’s a privilege to persevere in portraying the spirit of a moment through visual expression to the best of my ability.”

This years’ student participants include:

  • Logan Vosburg
  • Quinn Vosburg
  • Molly Budge
  • Kate Cook
  • Henry Kantor
  • Amelia McClure
  • Kintrye McNaught
  • Keera Peterson
  • Hannah Scott
  • Mea Simonsen
  • Hannah Erickson
  • Evelyn Gettman
  • Morgan Godard
  • Alex Mollahan
  • Cassie Penn
  • Katie Snaith

This will be Charity’s 12th year of offering small classes that take a classical approach to art.  She has taught in conference workshops and currently offers classes to youth ages 10 and up, teens and adults, rotating in subjects of study.  Her classes are small, 6-10 students each, taught with the aid of an intern assistant – allowing for much individual instruction from Charity.  She also offers a more intensive program where student interns can study with Charity for 16-18 hours a week and earn a certificate with completion of the prestigous.Atelier Program.

Changes at Art du Jour

We are saddened to announce that Carol Sharp, a core member of Art du Jour Gallery, passed away in April. She was the wife of Bob Sharp, who also passed away a few days earlier and was also a member of our gallery. Our collective best wishes and prayers for the family. Their presence will be missed.

Over the break in activity we’ve added several new artists to our mix, including most recently Kori Guy Crutcher of Chilloquin. Add her name to other recent additions Joshua Able, Don Veverka, Douglas Staples and Raye Aubin, and we offer a lot of new diverse look.
