Winnifred Liang’s art exemplifies her diversity. Born in Malaysia of Chinese ancestry, she lived and was educated in Malaysia, the United Kingdom and the US. Winnifred studied classical piano in all three locations, and earned undergraduate degrees in oil painting, drawing, art history, and business administration. Graduate degrees in geography, and urban and regional planning. She worked as a land use/environmental planner in the private and public sectors, and as an adjunct geography professor in the community college and California State University systems.
Upon retiring in 2012, she returned to painting and now works in oil, watercolor, acrylic, pen and ink, charcoal, pencil, and pastels. She also taught a drawing class at the Haggin Museum, Stockton.
Winnifred has won several awards and exhibited in various art galleries and public arenas in California. She exhibited her work in Calaveras County Arts Council, Aloft Gallery, Umpqua Bank, Calaveras County Annual Fairs, and various vineyards in the Calaveras County. She won first and second awards at the 2015 County fairs. She was a feature artist at the Lodi Performing Arts Center, and at the Lodi public library. She has recently relocate to Medford and won a ribbon for her watercolor painting at the Southern Oregon Society of Artists. Her artistic expressions, closely related to her extensive musical and geography backgrounds, reflect her love for nature.
Note from AdJ: In an earlier press release this artist was announced as Winnifred Wilson. While she goes by both names a bit of confusion ensued when her bio information was submitted to us. We regret any mistakes that may have been passed along due to this error in communication.
Guest Artist Sheri Dinardi in Salon August through September

Sheri Dinardi writes that her home in Jacksonville is a constant source of inspiration due to the surrounding beauty. She began studying oil portrait painting with Richard McKinley and later attended workshops with Frank Covino, studying Old Master techniques. Later she continued her education through workshops with Dan Gerhartz, Michael Malm, JoAnn Peralta, and many others. She also learns from “really great” painting videos, attends local art academies and life painting sessions.
The focal piece in this exhibit is “A Moment of Reflection”, her most recent gallery type work which was accepted last summer for the Oil Painters of America’s Western Regional Exhibition in Boulder Colorado. About this painting Sheri writes, “I hoped to capture her momentary pause as she reflected. This girl seemed deep in thought as she twirled her long curls with her fingers. Only she knows what she was pondering. ” In our hurried lives where we are rapidly moving from one thing to the next and the next, juggling balls, answering calls and checking for what is next on the to-do list. More than ever, we need times of quiet… no expectation, just a time to rest, find peace and inspiration in simpler things. Just a few minutes in the cool of the early morning on the porch, awaiting the sunrise can fill your soul. The chorus of birds in the trees seems to crescendo in anticipation of the sunrise marking the new day. So it is also in moments in our day when we observe life and the lives around us taking place… a conversation with a friend… time with a loved one or even a treasured pet. Much of my work is contemplative and along this theme I will choose the work for this exhibit, in hopes you, the viewer will find joy and inspiration in the works.”
