At the Rogue Gallery & Art Center, we provide many fun classes for the youth that will allow them to explore the arts and become inspired. Our exceptional art instructors encourage children, teens, and families to go beyond and get creative in the visual arts, making it an exciting and memorable experience for all.

Family Art Days
Every Second Saturday from noon–2pm, Dec. 13, Jan. 10, Feb. 14, March 14 and April 11

The Rogue Gallery & Art Center is a great family destination with free and fun art projects in the Rogue Studio and art hunts in the Gallery once a month. Families are encouraged to come create, explore, enjoy seeing and making art together. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Spring Break Art Camp: Art Through the Ages

Tuesday – Friday, March 24, 25, 26, 27

Come to the Rogue Studio and make art inspired by artists from different eras! Explore the work of the Modernists while making colorful sculptures, use a larger than life “still life” to paint like the Realists, paint with abstract colors like the Post Impressionists, and create relief sculptures like they did in Ancient Egypt. Each day you will make a different masterpiece while being immersed in different eras of art history!

Watercolor Landscapes

Let the winter storms inspire you to create watercolor landscapes. The great English watercolor artist William Turner embraced storms as subjects for his paintings. With the master artist Turner as the inspiration, Eva will introduce you to painting not only stormy weather landscapes but also the bright blue sky of summer. In honor of Turner’s English heritage we will serve you a glass of port, English cheddar, and crackers.

Spring Flowers Painting

Would you like to advance your figurative drawing skills? Then do not miss this ten week class on life drawing. Using a nude model, artist Sarah F. Burns will aid you in developing the skills to capture the expression of the human figure. The class covers the fundamentals of life drawing such as proportion, structure, placement, and anatomy.

Nature Journaling

Art Journaling combines written and visual language to give a greater breadth of expression and understanding. Journaling is an effective tool for self-exploration and experimentation with several different art materials. Experimental Techniques for Pastel

Take the rich beauty of pastels to the next level as you discover the many possibilities that experimental techniques in pastels can add to your work. The accomplished pastel artist Roni Marsh will introduce you to underpainting techniques that include ink, watercolor, water soluble graphite, and fluid pastel.

Contour Lines: Drawing from Life

Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Focus on contour lines, positive and negative space, and drawing from life in a way that is fresh and liberating as an artist. Get creative in this class using non-traditional art materials such as highlighters, string, and organic items.

Techniques in Palette Knife Painting
taught by Silvia Trujillo
Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 14, 16, 21, and 23; 5:30 pm-7:30 pm
Skill Level: All Skill Levels, 16 and older

The direct approach of applying paint to the canvas with a palette knife was very popular with the Impressionist, and of particular interest to artists like Van Gogh and Monet. The palette knife can render luscious texture and depth, while maintaining rich pure colors. In this class, you will develop skills with the palette knife to enhance your work in value, design, and color harmony.
