Last month, Arts Action Fund members voted overwhelmingly to adopt the policy position to support a budget of $155 million for the National Endowment for the Arts and to strengthen arts education opportunities within the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. I want you to know that we heard you and because of your vote, we will bring national attention to these policy platforms during National Arts Advocacy Day on April 17, 2012. We will train hundreds of grassroots arts advocates before they go up to Capitol Hill on these very two positions. We have enlisted the support of celebrity artists such as Alec Baldwin, Hill Harper, Stanley Tucci, and Ben Folds; and we will also bring focused attention to these issues at a White House Briefing on the Arts that will be held that same day.
Even if you’re not able to join us in Washington, you can still participate in Arts Advocacy Day in two ways:
- Make a Difference This Year: Participate in the Virtual Rally, with thousands of your Arts Action Fund colleagues, by sending an e-mail message to your Members of Congress on Arts Advocacy Day. Look for these details in your e-mail Inbox on April 17th.
- Make a Difference for the Future: We are eager to announce our new Arts PAC Monthly Giving Club. Our goal is to raise $150,000 for the 2012 election cycle by encouraging Arts Action Fund members to contribute $20.12 per month to the PAC. Your monthly contribution can provide a stable flow of support to the critical work of ensuring that pro-arts candidates are able to win their election. Enroll online and you can choose the amount of your monthly gift to be charged to your credit or bank card. You’ll receive convenient monthly confirmation of the deductions via e-mail. This option offers great flexibility. If later you wish to modify or suspend your gifts, simply e-mail the Arts Action Fund at artsactionfundartsusaorg, and we will gladly accommodate you. We’ll keep you posted regularly on the candidates that we are supporting. If you prefer, you may give just a one-time gift to the Arts Action Fund PAC at this time as well.
We strive to support as many pro-arts federal candidates–Democratic, Republican, and Independent–as possible in all 50 states. Through the Arts Action Fund PAC, 100% of your contributed funds directly support pro-arts candidates. Just as your advocacy voice is stronger in a chorus with others, so too is your political financial support.
