Book Release Celebration and Reception!  Friday, November 18th at 7:00 pm  “Facing the Light” by Kathleen Meagher “The Chemistry of  Buddha’s Brain” by Marcy Greene

Please join us for a book release celebration and reception in honor of two of our favorite poets!  Kathleen Meagher and Marcy Greene will give special readings from their new books of poetry. This evening will also be honoring Jonah Bornstein and Wellstone Press.

A published writer and teacher, Kathleen Meagher moved to Ashland in 2003 after a long career as a Jungian Analyst, to commit herself to a writing life. Her passion for nature and its intersection with the ethical and social concerns in our world is a major voice in her poems. She has published two books of poetry and a Chapbook and contributed to several collections.   She is also a practicing Buddhist.

Our November Exhibit ushers in the cooler months of the season with fresh new works by two popular local artists; sculptor, Penelope Dews, and photographer, Kate Geary. Penelope presents her latest direction in hand-built and thrown ceramic sculpture in a show entitled, “Pinnacles,” which explores two main themes: the totem and the pedestal. Kate Geary exhibits her collection of photographs, “Invitation to Solitude,” which takes the viewer through the eye of the artist, sharing the quiet emotion and personal connection with the scene.

Illahe Studios and Gallery October Juried Mosaic Exhibit: Andamento; the Flow of Mosaics

Visit us in October for an exceptional group exhibit showcasing the talent of 17 local and national mosaic artists! This show promises to be an eclectic mix of styles, media, and form. Artists’ Reception: Friday, October 7th, during the Ashland Gallery Association First Friday Art Walk, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Live music will be provided by guitarist, Stephen Kane. Wine, cheeses, and refreshments will be served.

Jerry Shanafelt Studio Tour and Open House

SHAKESPEARE AUTUMN

Jerry Shanafelt, will be opening his studio and home at 432 Parkside Drive, Ashland, on Friday and Saturday, September 16 and 17, 1-7 pm. The show, “Seasons of Change,” will include his most recent works, as well as older paintings which depict the progression of his painting style from brush to palette knife work. Shanafelt, a signature member of the American Impressionists Society and member of Oil Painters of America, will be demonstrating his palette knife technique in his open air studio during the tour.

Join us in August for our Seventh Annual Sculpture Invitational!

 

This exhibit features the 3-dimensional work of five talented local sculptors showcasing varied forms, media and techniques in a diversely spectacular display!

 

Gallery owner Susan Springer shows her latest figurative creations of female forms in clay, along with the works of: Penelope Dews; Anagama wood-fired ceramic vessels, animals, and figures. Cheryl Williams; bold, contemporary forms in steel and clay, Norman Ernsting; ceramic vessels and animals inspired by ancient artifacts, and Cantrell Maryott; sculptural assemblages of found objects and mixed media.
