Kathleen Meagher A published writer and teacher, Kathleen Meagher moved to Ashland in 2003 after a long career as a Jungian Analyst, to commit herself to a writing life. Her passion for nature and its intersection with the ethical and social concerns in our world is a major voice in her poems. She has published two books of poetry and a Chapbook and contributed to several collections. She is also a practicing Buddhist. Our November Exhibit ushers in the cooler months of the season with fresh new works by two popular local artists; sculptor, Penelope Dews, and photographer, Kate Geary. Penelope presents her latest direction in hand-built and thrown ceramic sculpture in a show entitled, “Pinnacles,” which explores two main themes: the totem and the pedestal. Kate Geary exhibits her collection of photographs, “Invitation to Solitude,” which takes the viewer through the eye of the artist, sharing the quiet emotion and personal connection with the scene. Jerry Shanafelt, will be opening his studio and home at 432 Parkside Drive, Ashland, on Friday and Saturday, September 16 and 17, 1-7 pm. The show, “Seasons of Change,” will include his most recent works, as well as older paintings which depict the progression of his painting style from brush to palette knife work. Shanafelt, a signature member of the American Impressionists Society and member of Oil Painters of America, will be demonstrating his palette knife technique in his open air studio during the tour.
