Although the diffused light softens the dramatic effect, the color compliments and negative space in between the pears add quite a bit of visual interest. The hills and foliage are in their winter coat and yet the intensity of the sun’s light created plenty of color on the water. What appealed to me about this scene was the wild nature of the river tamed by man made elements of umbrellas and the distant dock.
