Though we’ve been aware of the confusing “green” labeling of many non-organic products for some time, we’ve recently learned more about how these misleading marketing tactics affect the producers of goods created using true organic products. With the rising awareness of the importance of organic farming and sustainable business practices for the health of our environment and local economies, many producers of organic goods have found larger markets available for their products. Unfortunately, the success these small, locally owned businesses have begun to enjoy has attracted the jealousy of larger corporations looking to continue their own growth in an area they had previously passed over, choosing greater profit margins over earth- and community-conscious practices.
